Faith and Resilience: Finding God’s Strength When You’re Struggling

Life has a way of testing us at the very core of who we are—through loss, uncertainty, disappointment, or change. In those moments, God offers us two powerful gifts to help us endure and overcome: faith and resilience. Hebrews tells us that faith is being sure of what we hope for, being convinced of what we do not see. Faith holds great power— it’s a quiet confidence that even when the path ahead is unclear, there is a path. It’s the anchor that steadies us when life’s storms threaten to pull us under. Faith reminds us that we are never alone.

Resilience is the strength that grows when God lifts us up to rise again. It’s the courage to keep moving forward, even when the odds feel overwhelming. Resilience doesn’t mean we don’t feel pain or fear—it means we choose to press on with God’s strength anyway. Resilience in the believer’s life is not about self-reliance, it’s about God-reliance. When we draw from His strength instead of our own, we find endurance that does not run dry.

Together, faith and resilience form a powerful partnership. Faith gives us the why—the reason to hope, to trust, to keep believing. The world often defines resilience as inner strength or grit, but the Bible gives us a deeper truth; our resilience comes from God. In our weakest moments, His strength enables us to rise.

Even the strongest believer’s stumble. The beauty of God’s grace is that He doesn’t count our falls-He helps us rise again and each time we rise, God strengthens us a little more: Proverbs 24:16: “For though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again.” God helps us become wiser, braver, and more whole. So, if you find yourself in a season of hardship, hear this truth: you are not broken. Each setback can become a sacred space where God rebuilds our faith, layer by layer.

Lean into the promise of Isaiah 40:31: “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” Take a moment today to pause, pray, and trust that strength is being renewed—even now. Resilience is not about never being shaken-it’s about who holds us steady when we are.
